Tracy Ross Comments: Thank you Mary Girsch-Bock for these tips! While you may have many other resolutions set for 2011, definitely consider these as they are simple to implement and will no doubt benefit your business in 2011. There is a host of property management software available to make every day property management tasks more efficient as well as improve tenant relations. Review your protocol on catching property maintenance issues. Perhaps increasing time spent doing walk-thrus will help prevent costly repairs and save time and money in the long run. Also, consider furthering your or your property manager’s education by looking into the the different property management certifications. There are several property management classes and seminars that can teach how to better manage properties from both a maintenance and financial perspective, as well as keep your tenants safe and keep you up to date on new laws. Not only will that make you more valuable, it will show you’re taking pride in your profession. Your property owners will certainly appreciate that!
